What is Mental Health?

Mental health is the state of your mind. It can be a lot more than just saying that you're happy and feeling good. It's the way you think, feel and act. Mental health is a state of well-being, wholeness and resilience, in which every person can realize their true potential despite life's adversities, challenges and stresses.

It's also about being able to manage problems as they arise, dealing with them effectively and positively rather than letting them take over your life or make you feel like you're going mad or crazy - because that's what mental illness does!

Mental health is a term used to describe the emotional and psychological well-being of an individual. It can be affected by a number of factors, including

  • Genetic predispositions,
  • Environmental factors, &
  • Neurobiology.

It is important because it plays a role in overall well-being and can affect one's ability to perform tasks that are important to their lives, such as daily activities like school or work. If someone has a mental illness such as depression or anxiety disorder, they may experience symptoms that interfere with their ability to function at home or work and make it difficult for them to meet their daily needs.

World Mental Health Day: 10 Oct

The World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on October 10. The day was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1999, and it is an opportunity for people around the world to raise awareness about mental health issues.
